It has been a wonderful and enriching experience serving the Parent Involvement Group (PIG) of Ascension Kindergarten (AK) for the past four years. I have grown to love, understand and appreciate the school.
One of the things I have learnt in AK about interaction with children is "to be yourself" and "live out that child in you again". It brings warmth to my heart when they remember your name and greet you with their brightest smile or just coming forward to offer a hug.
I want to thank the parents who have been so supportive. Through your enthusiasm and love, I have come up with a new meaning of PIG - (Parents) who I (Initiate) through G (Giving). Thank you for stepping forward to give of yourself through service, time and love.
It is my last year with AK this year. I relish the many memories I have built with the teachers, staff, parents and children. Thank you for the opportunity to love, serve, build and instill. “I thank my God every time I remember you. I always pray with joy in my every prayer for all of you.”- Philippians 1:3-4

Jesus said, “ Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
- Matthew 19:14
This past year has been a wonderful one. As the Parent Involvement Group coordinator of the 2nd session parents, I have had the opportunity to interact with many parents who all share the same sentiment – that they are happy to be given the chance to work with the children in the school.
I still get a thrill to see how excited the children are to do activities such as cooking, and when they see their mummy or daddy in school, the delight in their eyes is such a joy to see!
This year, some of the parents gave the teachers a break and took over the planning of the Teacher’s Day celebrations in school. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and formed deeper friendships in the process. We also got to know the teachers better as well.
I hope that, not just this year, but in the years to come, the parents, teachers and children can continue to form this bond. I encourage those of you who have the time to sign up and be a part of this wonderful experience with your children.
